This article collects information on tools for converting message archives in proprietary email formats into standard or documented formats.
To use message archives with dtSearch, the recommended formats are MSG, MBOX, EML, or HTML. PST is also supported but is inherently slower to access than other formats.
dtSearch Desktop/Network includes a command-line program, mapitool, which can convert PST files to MSG. For mapitool documentation, see C:\Program Files\dtSearch\bin\mapitool.html.
For information on indexing Outlook message stores using dtSearch, see How to index Outlook and Exchange messages with dtSearch.
Some of our customers also offer direct support for these formats.
