To execute a search that will retrieve all documents in an index, search for xfirstword, which is defined to be the first word in every document.  Because it is present in every document, a search for xfirstword will match all documents in an index.

To list all documents (or words or fields) in an index, click Index > List index contents... in dtSearch Desktop.
