This article collects information on tools for converting message archives in proprietary email formats into standard or documented formats. To use message archives with dtSearch, the recommended formats are MSG, MBOX, Eudora or HTML. To ensure that MBOX archives are detected correctly, set up a file type definition in Options > Preferences > File Types to specify which files are to be indexed as MBOX archives.
dtSearch Desktop/Network includes a command-line program, mapitool, which can convert PST files to MSG. For mapitool documentation, see C:\Program Files\dtSearch\bin\mapitool.html.
