Applies to: dtSearch Desktop 7.21 or later
When dtSearch Desktop is launched, the following error message appears: "This application has failed to start because the application configuration
is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
dtSearch Desktop versions 7.21 and later require certain updated Windows components. If the dtSearch setup program was not executed on a computer (for example, if you try to execute dtSearch Desktop from a network location), then the computer may not have those components.
There are two ways to install the missing
components:
(1) Run the dtSearch Desktop setup program, or
(2) Download and run a small program from Microsoft, vcredist_x86.exe, which will ensure that all of the missing components are installed. The Microsoft installer is available here:

If you are using the 64-bit version of the dtSearch Indexer (dtIndexer64.exe), you will also need vcredist_x64.exe, available here:
